Prep basketball: Haughton, Bossier tournaments get underway Wednesday

The Haughton Jack Clayton Invitational and Bossier Lady Kats basketball tournaments get underway today.

Both tournaments run through Saturday.

The Jack Clayton Invitational features eight-team boys and girls brackets.

The Bossier tournament has a seven-team girls bracket. Bossier is also hosting a six-team middle school tournament that includes the Rusheon seventh- and eighth-grade teams, Benton and Elm Grove.

Early round games in the winners’ and consolation bracket in the Clayton Invitational will be played at Haughton and BPCC. Saturday’s championship and consolation bracket finals will be played at Haughton.

In first-round games today in the boys bracket at Haughton, Benton faces North DeSoto at 4 p.m. and Haughton plays Calvary at 7.

In the only first-round girls’ game, Haughton plays Northwood at 5:30.

In first-round boys games Thursday at BPCC, Parkway faces Byrd at 4 and Lakeside takes on Minden at 5:30.

In first-round girls games Thursday at Haughton, North DeSoto faces Lakeside at 4, Minden plays Neville at 5:30 and Captain Shreve meets Ruston at 7.

The boys winners’ bracket semifinals are 5:30 and 8:30 Friday at Haughton.

The girls semifinals will be played at 7 Friday with one game at Haughton and one at BPCC.

Saturday’s action starts at 10 a.m. with the girls consolation finals. The boys consolation finals follows at 11:30.
The girls championship game is at 1 p.m. and will be followed by the boys at 2:30.

Byrd defeated Lakeside 77-62 in the boys championship game last year, and Ruston edged Haughton 34-33 in the girls title game.

In first-round games today in the Lady Kats Invitational, Huntington plays West Monroe at 5, Parkway takes on Green Oaks at 6:30 and Plain Dealing meets Booker T. Washington at 8.

Bossier received a first-round bye and will face the Green Oaks-Parkway winner in the semifinals at 7:30 Thursday.
The other winners’ bracket semifinal is at 4:30 Thursday. The championship game is at 6:30 Saturday.

West Monroe defeated Bossier in the championship game last year.
