Prep football: Five parish teams to play first-round playoff games Friday

Five Bossier Parish high school football teams will play first-round games in the LHSAA football playoffs Friday.

One of the five games is a rematch. District 1 champion Benton (9-1), the No. 4 seed, hosts No. 29 Fair Park (5-5) in a Class 4A game.

Benton defeated Fair Park 42-22 in Week 7 in a District 1-4A game at Leonard Barnes Stadium. The Indians led 22-20 going into the fourth quarter.

Benton defeated Bossier 34-6 last Friday to finish a perfect 7-0 in district. The Tigers will take an eight-game winning streak into the playoffs.

Fair Park, which finished fifth in 1-4A at 3-4, lost its final two regular-season games 36-12 to Woodlawn and 43-6 to North DeSoto.

Official playoff pairings were announced Sunday morning.

Parkway, Airline, Haughton and Plain Dealing are all continuing their seasons.

In Class 5A first-round games, District 1 co-champion Parkway (9-1), the No. 6 seed, hosts No. 27 Natchitoches Central (5-5), No. 16 Airline (7-3) hosts No. 17 Ponchatoula (7-3) and No. 19 Haughton (6-4) travels to Lake Charles to face No. 14 Barbe (6-3).

In a Class 1A first-round game, No. 17 Plain Dealing (3-7) visits No. 16 Oberlin (4-6).

Oberlin finished fourth in District 1-1A.
