The Parkway Panthers rolled to their fifth straight victory Friday night, crushing the Southwood Cowboys 54-0 at Lee Hedges Stadium.
Parkway, ranked No. 7 in Class 5A, improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in District 1-5A. Southwood dropped to 0-9 and 0-6.
The Panthers are tied for second in the district with Byrd (8-1, 4-1), one game behind Evangel Christian (8-1, 5-0). Parkway closes the regular season Friday at Airline (7-2, 3-2), which lost to Byrd 35-21.
If Parkway defeats Airline and Byrd downs Evangel, then the Panthers, Jackets and Eagles will share the district title.
As expected, Parkway had little trouble with Southwood. The Panthers led 20-0 after one quarter and 40-0 at the half.
Parkway has allowed just 30 points during its winning streak.
Robert McKnight scored four touchdowns. He caught two TD passes covering 29 and 22 yards from Keondre Wudtee. He also had rushing TDs of 12 and one yards.
McKnight caught four passes for 104 yards and rushed eight times for 60 yards.
Wudtee completed 15 of 20 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns.
Terrace Marshall caught four passes for 79 yards, including a 33-yard score. Deonte’ Hawkins had four catches for 56 yards.
CJ Morgan scored Parkway’s first TD on a 1-yard run. Backup QB Justin Rogers hit EJ Williams for 15 yards for the Panthers’ final touchdown.
Twenty-four Panthers were credited with tackles, according to official Parkway statistics. Semaj Tarver was in on six. Colton Nicholas and Stoney Butler were in on five each.
Nicholas, Greg Jones, Trevor Grider and Knije Harrison had sacks. Derious Bradford and Jalan Hall had one interception each.
