Prep soccer: Kleinpeter’s hat trick lifts Parkway to win; Haughton sweeps Northwood; Airline sweeps Bossier; Benton girls win

Mackenzie Kleinpeter’s hat trick propelled the Parkway Lady Panthers to a 3-0 victory over the Natchitoches Central Lady Chiefs in non-district girls soccer action Wednesday night at Tinsley Park.

Sara Funderburk had an assist as Parkway improved to 17-4-1. The Lady Panthers completed the first half of District 1, Division II play undefeated with a 5-0 victory over Captain Shreve Monday night.

Parkway was ranked No. 3 in the LHSAA Division II power rankings released Monday morning.

In other girls action this week, Benton defeated Airline 3-1 in a non-district game, Haughton defeated Northwood 2-1 in District 1, Division II and Bossier fell to Minden 2-0 in District 1, Division III.

Braylin Shaffer scored two goals and Breanna Bundy had one in Benton’s win over Airline. The Lady Tigers improved to 8-4-1.

Ashley Hein drove the field and crossed the ball with Anna Grace Barkley for Airline’s goal.

Ciara White scored both goals in Haughton’s win. Lauren Tompkins played great defense, coach Russell Melton said.

In boys action this week, Airline defeated Bossier 7-0 in a non-district game, Parkway fell to Captain Shreve 7-1 in District 1, Division 1I, Haughton downed Northwood 3-1 in District 1, Division II and Minden edged Bossier 5-4 in District 1, Division III.

Gin Pau scored four goals in Airline’s win. Two of those came via penalty kicks. The other came on assists from Keaton Love and Gabe Rodriguez.

Rodriguez also scored two goals. The first was from long range and the second was off an assist from Kham Nang.

Austin Floyd scored the first goal of the game on a header off a Rodriguez corner kick .

Blake Wasserman scored two goals in Haughton’s win and Oscar Ontiveros had one. Coach Kyle Wilkerson cited the defensive play of Sean Godfrey.
