Prep soccer: Parkway girls, Benton girls, Haughton boys pick up district wins; Airline girls down Bossier

The Parkway Lady Panthers and the Benton Lady Tigers posted District 1, Division II girls soccer victories Wednesday night.

Parkway downed Haughton 8-0 at Tinsley Park, and Benton edged Captain Shreve 3-2 at Lee Hedges Stadium.

Mackenzie Kleinpeter scored four goals and had one assist for the Lady Panthers. Madison Mitchell and Miranda Scotten had one goal and one assist each. Maya Cosic and Aubrey Burkhardt scored one goal each. Madelyn Elliott had three assists.

Parkway improved to 15-3-1 overall and 3-0 in district. The Lady Panthers were No. 2 in the latest power rankings released Jan. 4 by the LHSAA. Parkway visits 2014 Division III runner-up Loyola (6-5-1) at 6 tonight at Messmer Stadium.

Hailey McGhee scored all three of Benton’s goals. The Lady Tigers improved to 7-4-1 overall and 3-1 in district. Benton was No. 15 in the power rankings.

The Benton boys fell to Captain Shreve 3-0. The Tigers dropped to 10-8-1 overall and 3-1 in district. Captain Shreve (8-2-1, 3-0) leads the district.

Shreve, which dropped down from Division I this season, was the top-ranked team in Division II in the power rankings. Benton was No. 13.

The Haughton boys defeated Parkway 1-0 to improve to 1-3 in district play. The Bucs’ three losses were by a combined five goals.

The Airline girls defeated Bossier 8-0 in a non-district game Tuesday.

Haylie Travis scored three goals and had one assist. Alicia Taylor, Presley Nelson, Lauryn Daley, Lindsay Donlan and Mallory Hoglind also scored goals.

The Parkway JV tournament begins tonight at Tinsley Park and runs through Saturday. The 12-team girls field includes Parkway, Benton, Haughton and Airline. The eight-team boys field includes Parkway, Benton and Bossier.
