BOSSIER CITY – Ray Allen Hutcheson entered heaven to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday October 5, 1013 after an 8 year battle with cancer. He was born in Nashville, TN on January 24, 1933 and born again in 1952 into the family of God. His journey through these last 8 years was a beautiful representation of a man who had surrendered his life to Christ and who was willing to allow God to use him in His perfect way to further His kingdom. His servant attitude was a gift from God that he exhibited on a daily basis to family, friends and strangers alike. He was full of God’s love for others displaying it all those he encountered during his journey and he wanted nothing less than for others to know that love and that Christ died so that we could live eternally surrounded by His love. His life and its quality were extended with the skill and expertise of Dr. Chan and the radiation team at Schumpert Oncology. Without them, his opportunities for sharing Christ would have been shortened and he was extremely grateful for their care and personal interest.
He is preceded by his parents, Chester J and Eva Laurene Hutcheson and his brother Eugene Hutcheson. Temporarily he leaves on this earth his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy Dembrun Hutcheson, son, Mark Allen Hutcheson, his wife, Paige Leaphart Hutcheson and granddaughters, Lauren Paige and Lindsey Allyn Hutcheson as well as his brothers Carl Hutcheson, his wife Grace, and Jerry Hutcheson all of Michigan.
During his life here on earth he worked tirelessly for GE Lighting Sales. He retired in 1994 but for those that knew him – he continued to “sell” GE lighting to everyone. His passion for GE was surpassed only by his passion for Christ. He was a Sgt in the Marine Crop serving during the Korean War and receiving numerous commendations for his skills as a distinguished shooter for the USMC pistol and rifle team including but not limited to the Distinguished Pistol Shot Award, Elliot Trophy, President’s 100, National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and many others. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and served actively along-side his brothers and sisters in Christ at Barksdale Baptist Church continually seeking ways to grow God’s Kingdom in obedience to Him.
Ray knew the promises of God and he knew when he died he would be absent from the body – but immediately present with the Lord (II Corinthians 5:8). God promises that when he returns to this earth that his new body will be free from pain, sorrow, tears, sin and there will be no more death (Rev 21:3-4). His prayer was that everyone would have a life changing experience with Jesus Christ and that they too would one day be present with the Lord.
