REMINDERDOTD would like to remind motorists that this project is scheduled to begin today, Monday, April 14, 2025.

Drivers should anticipate intermittent lane closures in both directions as the contractor begins the early phases of construction.

Be prepared for some slow-downs and possible congestions as motorists adjust to the changing traffic configuration and construction activity through the area. You’re urged to drive with caution, remove all distractions, and be aware of crews and equipment on site.

BOSSIER PARISH
â€“ A section of heavily traveled highway in Bossier City/Haughton in Bossier Parish will soon receive a facelift in the form of an $8.4 million construction project.

A nearly five mile portion of US 80 from the Flat River near Bossier Parish Community College to Merrywoods Blvd. just east of Platt Elementary School will receive roadway base repairs at certain locations, milling to remove the old asphalt, and brand new asphalt paving.

Work is set to begin on Thursday, April 17, 2025, with intermittent lane closures going into place to allow construction work to progress safely and efficiently.

The first phase of work will involve full-depth repairs at pre-determined locations that address deficiencies with the base of the roadway and helps prevent future failures under the driving surface.

Once that process is complete, the contractor will remove the old, damaged layers of asphalt and replace with new asphalt paving on the entire length of the project.

Careful consideration is being given to peak travel times and school zone areas where congestion tends to develop.

The entire project is anticipated to wrap up in early 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.

US 80 is a primary east-west corridor that stretches across the entire northern portion of Louisiana, with this section of highway in Bossier Parish servicing between 15,000-30,000 vehicles per day on average.

This type of infrastructure investment will provide multi-faceted benefits to the community, including the potential for boosting the area’s economy, improved residential and commercial accessibility, and an enhanced driving experience.
