Rep. Johnson honors local youth at Awards Ceremony

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Mike Johnson (LA-04) hosted an awards reception for local youth on Friday, May 4.

The event featured the 2018 Congressional Art Competition show and winner announcement, recognition of Louisiana’s high school and middle school students of the year, a presentation of the Congressional Award Medal recipients and recognition of the Capitol Hill Challenge participants.

A list of this year’s winners and a gallery of the reception is below.

2018 Congressional Art Competition: 

  • First Place: “Fishing at Cypress Lake” by Madison Waldron, Haughton High School
  • Second Place: “Plucked from Southern Crop” by Madeleine Berry, Caddo Magnet High School
  • Third Place: “Emerald” by Rinkle Bhagat, Homer High School

Louisiana High School/Middle School Students of the Year:

  • High School Student of the Year: Sunjay Letchuman, Caddo Magnet High School
  • Middle School Student of the Year: Ashini Modi, Caddo Middle Magnet School

Congressional Award Medal Recipients:

  • Silver Medal: Gracie Lahey, Bossier Parish
  • Bronze Medal: Adam Lahey, Bossier Parish

Capitol Hill Challenge Participants:

  • Eunice High School
  • Plain Dealing High School
