David R. Rockett, Jr.announced today that he will not seek the 4th Congressional District seat. Incumbent Congressman John Fleming, R-Minden, is giving up the seat to run for the U.S. Senate.
Rockett serves as the Executive Director / President of the Greater Bossier Economic Development Foundation. He released the following statement about his decision:
“In the end, it was a decision about priorities and the needs of my family and not about my dedication to public service. To the contrary, my commitment to public service is stronger than ever. In fact, the recent passing of my grandfather, Chief Dallas W Greene Jr., has reinvigorated my desire to make our community the best place possible to live, work and raise a family. I am honored to remain in my role as Executive Director and President of the Greater Bossier Economic Development Foundation and will continue to work hard to promote our area.
“Finally, I hope that whoever is elected will remember that the priority of public office is service to the community and improving the lives of their constituents and not the divisive political rhetoric that damages us all and accomplishes nothing for the 4th district.”
