The angels are rejoicing in heaven as Mom and Dad are together again. Mom was born October 21, 1928 in Plain Dealing, LA to Harry Clifton “Kip” McKellar and Myrtis Allen McKellar. Rosemary McKellar Gray, age 85, died Friday, January 31, 2014 in Shreveport, LA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Springhill United Methodist Church with Rev. William “Bill” McClain officiating. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday, at Bailey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gray was a former member of Springhill United Methodist Church and a current member of First United Methodist Church, Shreveport, LA. Rosemary graduated from Plain Dealing High School and Louisiana Tech University. She was Allstate basketball player at Plain Dealing, member of Kappa Delta at Tech, taught at Browning Elementary, retiring after 35 years of teaching and traveled the world with Pop. Rosemary enjoyed traveling, dancing, her flower beds, the Saints, especially Archie Manning and watching her children and grandchildren in sporting events. She was most passionate about her family, especially her grandkids and was a true southern lady.
Preceded in death by the love of her life, H.D. Gray; parents; brothers, James McKellar, Malcom McKellar and sister, Edna Metcalf.
Survived by her sons, David Gray and wife, Mary Jo, Al Gray and wife, Sherry; grandchildren, Misty Gold and husband, David, Cliff Gray and his love, Lauren, Summer Rathmann and husband, Tom, Jason Berry and wife, Alison; Cole Gray and his love, Candace Lee; great grandsons, Cannon, Tyson, Keaton; sister, Janet Coleman and loving sister-in-law, Erna Jean Coates and husband, Leroy.
We would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers who have been so good to Mom. Those include the staffs at Horizon Bay and Pilgrims Manor. We would especially like to acknowledge Dr. Patrick Deere, who has been a true friend through it all.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Jeff Craig, Don Kottenbrook, Ricky Pace, Whitey Walls, Merv Magee and Ricky Wayne Kottenbrook.
