Rotary Club of Shreveport Foundation has awarded scholarships to
students from the six local institutions of higher learning for the past 38 years. The initial award
amount many years ago was $350 per student. This has been increased over the years to the
significant amount of $2,000 per student. These scholarships are funded primarily through
membership dues and project donations.

Following the club’s established eligibility requirements, three students are selected by the
financial aid office of each school to submit applications. The students come from various
backgrounds and majors. The Rotary Club of Shreveport Scholarship Committee reviews all the
applications, recommendations, and transcripts during the selection process. Among other
eligibility rules, criteria include: excellent scholarship (top 15 percent of the class), genuine
financial need, evidence of some form of “Service Above Self” in their personal and/or student
lives.

Scholarship winners receive $2,000, while runners up receive $350 for participation.

This year’s $2,000 scholarship student recipients are as follows:
● Deonna Williams – Bossier Parish Community College
● Sherry Lyn Shaw – Centenary College of Louisiana
● Mackenzie Noonan – LSU Health Sciences Center
● Yasmyn Eason – Louisiana State University Shreveport
● Imani Mosley – Northwestern State University School of Nursing
● Annquinette King – Southern University at Shreveport

We are to honor these students with a scholarship to continue their education.
