Saturday storms cause widespread power outages across northern Louisiana and eastern Texas

Dangerous storms developed across portions of eastern Texas late Saturday afternoon moving into northern Louisiana by early evening. Shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday, AEP/Swepco reported that over 5,000 people are without power in their local service area.

In the Shreveport-Bossier area, over 2,500 people are reported to be without power. In East Texas, there are over 2,000 people without power in the Longview area.

Over the next few days, a cold front will be slowly making it’s way toward our area resulting in a forecast of: 60% chance of rain and storms on Sunday, 70% chance of rain and storms on Monday and 60% chance of rain and storms on Tuesday.

As the cold front arrives on Monday, a low temperature of 53 degrees with a high of 68 degrees is forecasted. On Tuesday, the forecast calls for a low temperature of 47 degrees with a high temperature of 53 degrees.
