Benton Elementary’s newly formed literacy club, called T.A.B. — Tigers and Books — invited New Orleans children’s author Brod Bagert to get everyone revved up about reading at the Tigers’ literacy rally.
Bagert had students at Benton Elementary mesmerized with his high energy presentation.

Benton Schools donate to flood victims
With the Benton High trailer loaded, Principal Teri Howe and crew hit the road over the Labor Day weekend, bound for St. Amant High School in Ascension Parish.
There they delivered a load of school and classroom supplies, uniforms and other items collected by Benton High and Middle Schools.
Mrs. Howe also made a whopping $5,000 check presentation to the principal at St. Amant to help replace what was lost to floodwaters.
Unfortunately, St. Amant High will not be inhabitable until sometime in 2017. An astounding 70% of the students and faculty at St. Amant were displaced by the flood.
As said to Mrs. Howe by the principal at St. Amant, “My faith in humanity is restored.”
