Bossier KIDS, Inc. event to help abused and neglected children
A local organization is inviting the public to gather their photos and memories for a creative event that will help abused and neglected children.
Bossier KIDS, Inc., a non-profit foster care agency, will host a scrapbooking and crafters fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Family Life Center of Airline Drive Church of Christ, 2125 Airline Drive in Bossier City. Scrappin’ for a Cause will give participants a dedicated space to scrap or craft with fellow scrappers to benefit children in the agency’s foster care homes.
Tracie Keys with Bossier KIDS, Inc. (BKIDS) the goal is to provide scrappers in the community an opportunity to take a day off from the daily stresses, come together with people that are like minded, get new ideas and make new friends.
“Similar to a quilting bee, a scrapbooking fundraiser makes a rather isolated hobby into a fun social event,” Keys said. “It gives scrap bookers the chance to meet and chat with other hobbyists. They get to share ideas and learn techniques from others. It’s great for the whole family.”
The entry fee is $25 for a four foot table space with lunch and dinner included in the price. Keys said participants will need to bring their own scrapbooking and crafting supplies and any participant under the age of 14 should be supervised by an adult.
“This event is fun for everyone,” Keys said. “We provide 4’ table space for each person, two people per table, and access to electrical outlet for equipment needs.”
There will be opportunities to purchase raffle tickets and bid on items ranging from gift baskets, merchandise and gift cards. T-shirts will also be on sale for $10.
Space is limited and entry forms can be requested by calling (318) 741-1934. Bossier KIDS, Inc. serves foster children from Bossier and eight surrounding parishes in Northwest Louisiana.
“BKIDS realizes that while some families are not able to foster, many people are interested in supporting Christian homes for children,” Keys said. “Participating in this fun event helps us raise funds for KIDS, which helps our community help these children.
Volunteers are still needed. Areas of support include recruitment and organization of raffle items donations, food preparation and sell of raffle tickets and t shirts.
Volunteers, ages 16 and older, are asked to contact the BKIDS office at (318) 741-1934 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org to connect with an area of interest.
Those who would like to donate any items for raffled gift baskets are also encouraged to contact the BKIDS office.
