The second suspect wanted for cashing multiple counterfeit payroll checks at two local banks is now in custody.

As the result of a tip to Bossier Crime Stoppers, detectives with the Bossier Financial Crimes Task Force arrested Jeffrey Lee Paul Wood, 46, of Shreveport Wednesday night. Wood was booked into the Bossier City Jail for bank fraud and subsequently transferred to the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Facility.

The other suspect, Charles Smith, 65, of Shreveport was arrested earlier this week.

The pair were arrested in a case that involved suspects entered the Chase Bank branch in the 4300 block of Barksdale Boulevard October 30, 2014 both within minutes of each other and each cashing a counterfeit payroll check from an account belonging to a local business.  The two then allegedly went to the Chase Bank branch in the 2000 block of Airline Drive that same day where they cashed two more counterfeit payroll checks from the same account.  The four bogus checks totaled $8,483.
