The Bossier City Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit has arrested a second suspect in connection with a home invasion that occurred last month at a local apartment complex.
Kenneth Wayne Johnson, 30, of Bossier City was arrested on a warrant charging him with home invasion after he was taken into custody by members of the United States Marshal’s Violent Offender Task Force on Thursday afternoon.
The other suspect in the case, Verndell Dewayne Winn, 21, of Bossier City was arrested on July 23, 2013 on the same charge thanks in part to a tip made to Bossier Crime Stoppers.
Both men are charged in a home invasion that took place on July 17, 2013 at a residence in the Cloverdale Apartments in the 2200 block of Shed Road. Winn is accused of attempting to rob a man and woman after forcing his way into their apartment while armed with two handguns. The couple’s young child was also inside the apartment at the time. Detectives say during the encounter Winn struck the male victim in the head with one of the weapons then fled without taking anything.
Johnson is accused of assisting Winn by providing him a vehicle to commit the crime. Johnson was booked into the Bossier City Jail and later transferred to the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Facility. His bond is set at $45,000.
