State Senators Thomas Pressly (District 38) and Alan Seabaugh (District 31) jointly secured a major investment towards improvements to Louisiana Highway 509 totaling more than $11.2 million. The project is now underway having officially started on May 5, 2025.
The infrastructure improvements for DeSoto Parish include updates to approximately 10 miles of LA 509 north of Mansfield to LA 5 in Kingston. Upgrades will include full-depth repairs, new asphalt, striping and signage.
“The people of DeSoto have been waiting for this critical infrastructure to be improved for some time so the commencement of this project is both timely and well received,” said Senator Pressly. “This investment in our region not only means safer roadways, it also brings with it good jobs and opportunities for locals.”
“This project is a result of working closely with state officials and others at the Department of Transportation and Development to make sure our region benefits from long-awaited construction projects aimed at fixing our roads,” said Senator Seabaugh. “Highway improvements like these increase safety, improve driving conditions and minimize wear and tear on vehicles for my constituents.”
