For the first time ever, the Bossier Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit and SWAT team formerly trained together in SKIDDS.
SKIDDS or “SWAT K-9 Integration During Deployment School” is a 3-day process for training a police dog with its SWAT team to deploy together in specialized SWAT operations.
The SKIDDS training was held at the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Training Academy. K-9 handlers from Florida, Oklahoma, Red River Parish, Alexandria, and Arkansas attended the training course. Sgt. Dan Talley with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office says this is a highly sought-after training course and it was a great opportunity for it to be held here at BPSTA.
