Sheriff promotes deputy to sergeant

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington promoted a deputy to the rank of sergeant in a ceremony Monday morning in the Bossier Sheriff’s Office Command Center in Plain Dealing.

Sgt. Blake Smith is a four-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office and has worked in the Corrections Division during that time. He served in the Medium Security Facility for the first three years as a Field Training Officer (FTO), before transferring to the Maximum Security Facility in the past year.

Sgt. Smith will take on the duties and responsibilities of shift-sergeant at the “Max” on one of four shifts.

“Now the real work begins,” Sheriff Whittington exclaimed. “Your promotion comes with expectations not only for you but for the people you supervise. Keep up the excellent work.”
