An off-campus shooting incident Monday afternoon caused two Bossier City schools to go into lockdown.

Bossier Parish Schools told the Press-Tribune that a student from Butler Educational Complex was walking home when he became involved in an incident where shots were fired. The student returned to campus, in which policy mandates a lockdown for the campus.

Bossier Elementary School, which is in the same vicinity as Butler Educational Complex, was due to let out for the day after the incident occurred. The school also went into lockdown mode as a result.

Social media reports said parents were advised by law enforcement to pick up their children from Bossier Elementary due to the incident. Law enforcement also followed school buses on their routes.

Bossier City Police are still investigating the incident.
