In an effort to emphasize childhood immunizations and the need for immunizations before the start of the school year, Shots for Tots and Party Central in Bossier City are hosting a Back to School Bash on Friday, July 26 at Party Central, 4401 Viking Drive.
This event will feature the Shots for Tots mobile unit, which will offer immunizations from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Every child who is immunized will receive an armband from Party Central to enter the jungle gym and soft play area. There also will be a special back-to-school surprise for each child with an up to date immunization record.
With the 2013 school year drawing closer, Leslie Smith, Shots for Tots program coordinator, says the Bash begins a three-week-long push by Shots for Tots to immunize as many children as possible.
“Keeping children immunized directly affects the health of our community,” she explained. “With the help of the Party Central we are bringing about community-wide awareness of childhood immunizations.”
Shots for Tots, a community service funded by Willis-Knighton Health System, provides immunizations, immunization scheduling, and consulting by a program nurse. Vaccine is provided through the Louisiana Department of Public Health’s Vaccine for Children Program.
