Shreve Memorial Library’s 7th Annual Children’s Book Festival is Saturday, May 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Louisiana State University – Shreveport (LSUS). Due to continued inclement weather conditions, all activities for the Book Festival will take place inside of the LSUS University Center. The family-friendly, daylong literary celebration features children’s book authors and illustrators, entertainment, costumed characters, and interactive games and activities for children of all ages. Admission to the festival is free and open to the public.
This year’s Children’s Book Festival features more than 20 children’s book authors and illustrators, including Big Nate creator Lincoln Peirce, Newbery Award winner Tae Keller, #1 New York Times bestselling author and illustrator Tad Hills, along with award-winning author Stacy McAnulty, cartoonist Shauna J. Grant, and numerous children’s book authors and illustrators from the region. In addition, children will enjoy meeting their favorite storybook characters such as Clifford the Big Red Dog, Elephant and Piggie, Curious George, Biscuit, and Splat the Cat, playing games and doing fun activities in Literacy Lane, and seeing each author bring their stories to life on stage.
