Shriners Children’s Shreveport will cut the ribbon and officially open its newly upgraded therapeutic playground on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 11AM. The playground is located outside the hospital at 3100 Samford Avenue in Shreveport.
The Francis K. Disiere Playground was funded through donations collected in 2020. The month- long campaign raised $95,859 in private contributions. The David and Teresa Disiere Foundationadded a $50,000 donation, bringing the total collected to $145,859.
The money was used to add new equipment, as well as update the playground to make it more functional for patient therapy. The playground is accessible to all patients regardless of physical limitations.
This year, Shriners Children’s Shreveport will mark its 100th anniversary. The Shreveport location was the first Shriners Hospital established. It was built in 1922 to serve the city and surrounding farming communities. At the ribbon cutting, the Disiere Foundation will have a special announcement to commemorate the golden anniversary.
