Amanda Simmons has been named editor of the Bossier Press-Tribune.
“It is such an honor to serve Bossier Parish as editor of this news organization. This is a position I have worked toward for many years and I look forward to leading this community-driven newspaper in a way that will best serve you, our readers,” said Mrs. Simmons.
Bossier Press-Tribune Publisher Randy Brown praised Mrs. Simmons commitment to the BPT and Specht Newspapers, Inc., saying, “Amanda is a great asset to the BPT team. Furthermore, she is an extremely gifted reporter and photographer. Over the four years that she has been a BPT team member, she has built many strong relationships both inside and outside of our office. I am constantly hearing people comment to me regarding how much they admire her writing/reporting abilities. Personally, I am really looking forward to working with Amanda in her new role as managing editor of our newspaper. She has tremendous talents, gifts and abilities that she will now use from a somewhat more administrative role in relation to helping us move our newspaper forward in the years to come.”
A 2010 journalism graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Mrs. Simmons began working for the Bossier Press-Tribune as an intern in May 2010 before she was hired full-time in July 2010.
“The great thing about life is everyone has a story to tell and I thrive on telling those stories. The Bossier Press-Tribune is unique in the fact that it is focused on publishing strictly local content. That means we have the pleasure of getting to know our community in a much more personal way. This job has opened doors to many incredible opportunities and life-long friendships for me in just four short years. However, I feel as though the best is yet to come,” said Mrs. Simmons.
She is taking over for Sean Green who served as editor for more than three years. He is serving as publisher and Vice President of fellow SNI publication BIZ. Magazine.
“Amanda has consistently exceeded my expectations, is a talented writer and beloved member of the Bossier community. I know that the BPT’s newsroom is in good hands,” Green said.
Mrs. Simmons is married to Gerrit Simmons and has a five-year-old daughter, Kayleigh. She also enjoys working part-time in her photography studio.
