Sixth Annual ‘Feed the Cops & Fire’ Event Serves Over 1,000 Meals to Area First Responders

First responders across Caddo and Bossier parishes were treated to some of the region’s best barbecue this week as part of the sixth annual Feed the Cops & Feed the Fire event, hosted by Jett Business Systems, Inc.

Held on Thursday, June 26, and Friday, June 27, the event spanned multiple locations and served more than 1,000 meals to law enforcement officers and firefighters in a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for their daily sacrifices.

The initiative, founded by local business owner Tim Jett in 2020, began as Feed the Cops—a one-day event offering meals to Shreveport-area police officers. It expanded in 2023 to include Feed the Fire, recognizing the equally critical service of area firefighters.

“We’re proud to show our appreciation with a meal for the law enforcement officers and first responders who give so much every day,” Jett said. “We know the job they do isn’t easy—and this is our small way of saying thank you for their service and sacrifice.”

Over the course of two days, volunteers from Jett Business Systems and partner organizations personally delivered and served meals at six first responder facilities.

This year’s feast was made possible through a strong collaboration with some of the area’s top food vendors, including Silver Star Smokehouse, Podnuh’s BBQ, Bodacious Bar & Q, and Down Home Meats. Supplies and support were also provided by Brookshire’s Grocery Company, Sam’s Club, and Eagle Distributing of Shreveport.

As plates of smoked meats and hearty sides were handed out, first responders expressed their gratitude for the community’s continued recognition of their work. The meals served as a moment of camaraderie and appreciation among departments that often work in high-pressure environments.

The events were not open to the public but exclusively served members of the Shreveport and Bossier police departments, the Caddo and Bossier sheriff’s offices, and the Shreveport Fire Department.

At the conclusion of the sixth annual event, Jett Business Systems says it plans to continue the tradition for years to come.

“As long as they keep doing what they do,” Jett said, “we’ll keep showing up with BBQ.”
