Soccer: Airline hands Benton first loss

Gabe Rodriquez and Mang Tang scored one goal each as Airline handed Benton its first loss of the season, 2-0, at Tinsley Park Tuesday night.

Ian Hill had an assist for the Vikings (8-2-1), and Collin Jimes had five saves.

Benton (11-1) bounced back Thursday night with a 5-0 victory over Bossier.

Dillon Rogers had a hat trick. Ethan Whitehead had one goal and two assists. Javior Ramos scored one goal. Bailey Grimes had two assists.

Elsewhere, the Benton girls knocked off Evangel 5-1 in a non-district game Wednesday night.

Shelby Plunkett had a hat trick for the Lady Tigers (7-4). Morgan Payne and Aidan Flood scored one goal each.

Freshman Kaitlyn Sikes had two assists and Kayla Laws had one.

Mallory Hoglind scored four goals in Haughton’s non-district girls victory over Minden Tuesday. Genet Liest also had a goal. Parker McClung had one assist and Lindsey Fay had two saves. The Lady Bucs are 3-4.

The Bossier boys dropped a 7-2 non-district game to North DeSoto Wednesday.

Ahmed Mohanna scored for the Bearkats (2-6). Johnny Castillo had the assist.

In a District 1-I girls game Thursday night, Parkway downed Haughton.

Madeline Wheelahan had a hat trick for the Lady Panthers (6-5-2, 4-2). Mackenzie Kleinpeter and Abbe Grunewald had two goals each.

Sara Funderburk had a goal and an assist. Kaleigh Newman had three assists, and Kleinpeter had one.

The Lady Panthers defeated Benton 7-0 earlier in the week. Kleinpeter had four goals and an assist. Wheelahan had two goals and two assists. Funderburk had a goal and an assist. Grunewald had two assists and Isabelle Calderon had one.
