The Airline Vikings defeated Haughton 2-1 Thursday night at Tinsley Park to set up a showdown with undefeated Captain Shreve.
The Vikings (13-5-1, 7-1) can move into a first-place tie in District 1-I with a victory over the Gators (14-0-1, 8-0) tonight at Tinsley Park. Game time is 6 p.m
Elsewhere Thursday, the Airline girls knocked off Haughton 7-0 in District 1-I.
The Benton boys and girls teams bounced back from tough losses Tuesday to North DeSoto with a sweep of Minden. The Tigers (15-4, 5-1) won 5-2 and the Lady Tigers (10-8, 5-2) won 6-0.
Parkway’s boys and girls games against Byrd scheduled for Thursday night at Lee Hedges Stadium were postponed because of cold weather.
Jordan Wilcox had a hat trick in the Airline girls’ victory. Claire Reiser scored twice. Mandy Sparkman and Savannah Howell had one goal each.
Wilcox, Madi Walter, Maddi Morris and Carol Thompson all had one assist.
Dillon Rogers scored four goals in the Benton boys’ win over Minden. Nick Bowers scored the other goal. Ryan Mutchler had two assists. Edwin Lopez and Daniel Valcho had one each.
Shelby Plunkett had a hat trick to lead the Benton girls. Kaitlyn Sikes found the net twice, and Baileigh Howard scored once.
Tuesday night, Parkway swept Southwood in District 1-I games at Cargill Park. The Panthers won 4-2, and the Lady Panthers won 8-0.
The Airline boys defeated Byrd 4-1. The district-leading Lady Jackets were too much for the Lady Vikings, 11-1.
The Benton boys fell to North DeSoto 3-0 and the girls lost 2-1 in double overtime.
Kirsten Basco scored Benton’s lone goal.
The Haughton girls took a 1-0 non-district victory over Bossier.
Eli Irizzary scored twice in the Parkway boys’ victory over Southwood. Blake Bertrand scored on a penalty kick, and Hentarrious Henderson had a goal.
Michael Raybine and Coty Guerrero had one assist each for the Panthers (7-11-1, 3-7).
Mackenzie Kleinpeter had a hat trick to lead the Lady Panthers (11-5-2, 9-2). Sara Funderburk scored two goals. Liz Knight, Madeline Wheelahan and Taylor Gilbreath had one apiece. Miranda Scotten had an assist.
Ian Hill had two goals in the Airline boys’ win. Gabe Rodriguez and Bryan Medrano scored one each. Robert Spraggins, Art Villareal and Ryan Jameson all had assists. Collin Jimes had four saves.
The Haughton girls scored with about eight minutes left to beat Bossier. The Lady Kats’ Alyssa Tuggle had five saves.
