Soccer: Airline sweeps Southwood; Bossier boys get district win

Airline swept Southwood in District 1-I boys and girls soccer games Monday night at Tinsley Park.
Both the Vikings and Lady Vikings won 6-0.

Elsewhere, the Bossier boys opened District 1-III play with a 5-2 victory over North Caddo.
Gin Pau had a hat trick for the Airline boys. Gabe Rodriguez, Michael Dickson and Eric Mundy also scored goals for the Vikings, who evened their district record at 1-1.

Mung Tang had two assists and Kham Nang had one.

Savannah Howell equalled Pau’s feat in the girls game with three goals. She also had two assists.
Mandy Sparkman had a goal and two assists. Peyton Brown had one goal and one assist. Mallory Hoglind scored a goal.

The game was the district opener for Airline.

Bossier scored three goals in the final five minutes of the first half, including two by Rene Alvarado, to take a 3-1 halftime lead over North Caddo.

Alvarado also had an assist on Jairo Ramirez’s goal.

Alvarado scored twice more in the second half. Jorge Caal and Mosse Martinez each had an assist.

North Caddo won the girls game 4-0.

In other District 1-1  games, the Haughton girls fell to Caddo Magnet 5-0 and the boys lost to the Mustangs 6-0.

Bossier tournament: Twelve boys and six girls varsity teams will be competing in the Bossier tournament, which starts Thursday at Tinsley Park.

Benton, Parkway, Airline and Haughton are competing in the boys division along with Sulphur, Evangel, Ruston, Bastrop, North DeSoto, West Ouachita, Ouachita and Byrd.

Haughton and Benton are competing in the girls division along with Ruston, Ouachita, Sterlington and Bastrop.

The tournament starts at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The girls championship game is at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, and the boys is at 6.
