The Benton Tigers picked up a key District 1-II soccer victory Thursday night, handing the Loyola Flyers their first district loss 6-1 at Tinsley Park.
Elsewhere, Airline swept Southwood in District 1-I games at Cargill Park, taking the boys game 4-0 and the girls 10-0.
Sergio Gomez had a hat trick in Benton’s victory. Ethan Parks, Dylan Grimes and Daniel Valcho scored one apiece. Sam Vickrey had two assists and Carter Parks one.
Benton improved to 8-4-2 overall and 3-1 in District 1-II. Loyola dropped to 7-8 and 5-1. The victory gave the Tigers a district split with the Flyers, who won the first meeting 3-2.
Gin Pau led the Airline boys against Southwood with two goals. Kham Nang and Gabe Rodriguez scored one each. Pau and Nour Zeidan had one assist each.
Airline improved to 10-6 overall and 4-3 in District 1-I.
Madi Walter and Haylie Travis scored two goals each in the Lady Vikings’ win. Peyton Brown, Savannah Howell, Ashley Hein, Kloee Davis and Lauren Pilcher scored one apiece.
Tuesday night, Airline and Caddo Magnet played to a scoreless tie.
The Lady Vikings are 7-6-1 overall and 4-3-1 in district.
