The Parkway Panthers and Airline Vikings won District 1, Division I boys soccer games Monday night at a cold and wet Tinsley Park.
Parkway defeated Byrd 3-1, and Airline edged Haughton 3-2.
In District 1-I girls play, Parkway fell to Byrd 3-0.
In District 1-III play, the Bossier boys and girls lost one-goal games to Evangel. The boys lost 3-2 and the girls lost 4-3.
Joe Alvarado had two goals and an assist to lead the Parkway boys (5-5, 2-3). Rene Alvarado scored one goal. Jorge Caal had two assists.
Art Villarreal, Nick Rizzo and Gabe Rodriguez scored one goal apiece in Airline’s win over Haughton. Ryan Jameson had an assist. Collin Jimes stopped six shots. The Vikings improved to 6-2-1 overall and 3-0 in district. Benny Broadway and Cesar Ontiveros scored for Haughton.
Parkway goalkeeper Madelyn Elliott had 18 saves against Byrd. The Lady Panthers dropped to 4-3-2 and 3-2.
Baha Abdelrahim and Ahmed Mohana scored goals in the Bossier boys’ (3-5-0, 1-1) loss to Evangel.
Keona Sinnie led the Lady Kats (1-4-0, 0-2) with two goals, and Angie Nguyen had one. Jackie Morales had an assist.
Tuesday night, Benton posted a 1-0 non-district boys victory over Parkway. Nick Bowers scored the game’s lone goal, and Mitchell Matthews had two saves.
The Benton girls rolled past Woodlawn 12-0 in a District 1-II game. Shelby Plunkett scored two goals.
Bridget Brown, Hannah Easter, Aiden Flood, Piper Flood, Laken Hunsicker, Kayla Laws, Abby Lauterbach, Rachel Mitchell, Chelsea Rangel, and Amanda Watson each had one each.
