Sara Funderburk scored in overtime as the No. 21 seed Parkway Lady Panthers upset No. 12 Acadiana 3-2 in the first round of the Division I girls soccer playoffs Thursday in Lafayette.

Parkway (13-6-2) will host No. 5 Dominican (17-4-4), an 8-0 winner over No. 28 Destrehan, in the second round.

The Lady Panthers and Wreckin’ Rams played to a 2-2 tie in regulation.

Funderburk gave her team a 3-2 lead in the first 10-minute overtime with a high shot that Lady Panthers’ faculty coach Bonnie Matak described as “perfect.”

Parkway then held Acadiana scoreless in the second overtime period and the celebration began.

Mackenzie Kleinpeter scored the Lady Panthers’ lone goal of the first half on an assist from Funderburk.

The half ended knotted at 1.

Acadiana, which finished 14-8, took a 2-1 lead in the second half, but Sara Anderson tied it on a penalty kick.

Miranda Scotten drew the foul inside the box.

Three parish boys teams play first-round games today.

Benton is the only team at home. The No. 14 seed Tigers (18-5) play No. 19 Belle Chasse (7-8) at Tinsley Park at 5 p.m. in Division II.

Airline (14-8), the No. 24 seed in Division I, visits No. 9 Mandeville (19-6-2) at 4:30.

Bossier (6-11-2), the No. 29 seed in Division III, plays No. 4 Epsicopal (15-5-2) at 5:30 in Baton Rouge.
