Soccer: Parkway girls win St. Frederick tournament

The Parkway Lady Panthers won the girls division of the St. Frederick tournament last week in Monroe.
It was their second tournament title of the season.

Parkway defeated St. Frederick 2-1 in the championship game. Miranda Scotten scored the winning goal in the final minute.
The Lady Panthers went 4-0-1. After tying Neville 1-1 in the opener, they defeated Sterlington 8-0, Ouachita Christian 6-0 and New Iberia 2-0.

Parkway (13-3-1) was ranked No. 4 in the second Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association Division II poll released Dec. 11.

Airline reached the semifinals of the boys division before falling to Neville 4-2 on penalty kicks.

The game was tied at 1 at the end of regulation. Gin Pau scored Airline’s goal in the first half.

Needing to win by six to reach the semifinals, the Vikings defeated West Ouachita 7-0. They also blanked Ouachita 2-0 after losing to Neville in the opener 3-1.

Gabe Rodriguez had a hat track and Gin Pau scored twice against West Ouachita. Garyn Simons also had a goal. The Vikings also got an own goal. Pau, Allen Cruz and Rodriguez had assists.

Rodriguez and Pau scored goals against Ouachita.

In a non-tournament game, Airline defeated Benton 4-0.

Pau scored two goals and had two assists. Rodriguez also scored two goals. Keaton Love had an assist.

Airline also won its first District 1, Division I game last week 2-1 over Natchitoches Central.

Kham Nang scored off a Rodriguez corner kick. Love also scored. The Vikings improved to 1-2 in district.
The Airline girls fell to Natchitoches Central 2-0.

In a District 1, Division II boys game, Haughton lost to Northwood 1-0.

Benton defeated Bossier 8-0 in a non-district girls game.

Hailey McGhee scored five goals, including four in the second half.

Abby Lauterbach scored twice. Braylin Shaffer and Georgia Carroway scored one goal each. Carroway also had two assists.
In a District 1, Divison III boys opener, Bossier fell to North DeSoto 3-1.
