Regina “Reggie” Salvatore Digilormo has been named head softball coach at Airline.
Digilormo served as interim head coach last season after first-year coach Roo Richardson-Johnson resigned early in the season.
The Lady Vikings finished 6-19 overall and 3-9 in District 1-5A.
But Airline, which had two sophomore pitchers, played some very competitive games against the district’s top teams.
The Lady Vikings lost to district champion Byrd 5-3 and 9-6 in 10 innings. They fell to Haughton 3-2 and Parkway 2-1. Haughton and Parkway finished tied for second in the district.
After graduating from Centenary in 2012 with a B.S. in geology, Digilormo spent a year working for local oil and gas companies as a geotech and geophysical assistant.
She began her coaching career as an assistant at Benton.
In 2013, she moved to Airline where she was an assistant softball coach under Danny and Lynne Roberts and head swimming coach.
This school year, she served as Airline’s first varsity volleyball coach.
Digilormo is a 2008 graduate of Captain Shreve, where she played softball for Neil May, now head coach at Parkway, and Mark Lambert.
A pitcher, she was named first-team All-District her junior and senior seasons. She was named the Defensive Player of the Year her junior season.
Digilormo played collegiately at BPCC as a freshman and then at Centenary her sophomore, junior and senior seasons.
At Centenary, she played every position except catcher and center fielder.
