The Airline Lady Vikings picked up two wins in an event hosted by Byrd and Parkway Saturday.
Airline defeated Natchitoches Central 17-8 and Bastrop 9-4 to improve to 11-3. The Lady Vikings host Parkway Monday in a big District 1-5A game. Parkway leads the district at 5-0 and Airline is a game and a half back at 3-1.
The game is the final one in the first half of district play for Parkway.
The Byrd/Parkway event was put together after the Sulphur tournament was cancelled because of rain and flooding in Southwest Louisiana. While Parkway hosted, the Lady Panthers didn’t participate. Parkway coach Neil May said he wanted to rest ace pitcher Samantha Guile. He also said Winnfield wanted in the event so he let them have the games the Lady Panthers were going to play.
Airline rebounded Saturday from a 12-3 loss to West Ouachita Friday night in Monroe.
Brittany Nelson had a home run, double and four RBI in the win over Bastrop. Kaitlyn Walker went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Maddie Ennis had two hits and an RBI.
