The Airline Lady Vikings are undefeated after the first week of the high school softball season.
Airline improved to 4-0 with a 10-7 victory over defending Class 4A state champ North DeSoto in the North DeSoto tournament in Stonewall.
Kaylee Adams went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Kelci Johnson had three hits.
Freshman Maddie Ennis completed a great debut week with a home run, double and three RBI. Jamie Roberts had two doubles. Kaitlyn Walker went 2-for-4 with a double.
Kourtnee White, another freshman, had two hits. Pitcher Hannah Hutson scattered six hits and helped herself at the plate with a double.
Elsewhere, Parkway (3-2) went 1-1 in the North DeSoto tournament Saturday. The Lady Panthers lost to North DeSoto 5-0 then came back later to defeat Benton 2-1.
Samantha Guile pitched a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts against Benton, per Parkway scorekeeping. Brittany Bryant, who went 2-for-3, drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Madelyn Elliott had a triple, and Kendall Lewis drove in a run.
Guile allowed just four hits and struck out 13 against North DeSoto. Hannah Kennady went 2-for-3.
Benton’s loss to Parkway was its third straight by one run to open the season.
Sarah Koeppen pitched an outstanding game, allowing just four hits. According to Benton scorekeeping, Makenzie Chaffin had a double and Hallie Saintignan had a hit.
Earlier in the day, Benton took an 8-4 lead against North Webster into the seventh only to see the Lady Knights come back and score five in the top of the inning to win 9-8. The Lady Tigers outhit the Lady Knights 13-7.
Koeppen went 3-for-5 with a home run, double and three RBI. Saintignan also had three hits. McEntee had a two-run double. Koeppen allowed seven hits, but none of North Webster’s runs were earned because of Benton errors.
Haughton (3-1) routed D’Arbonne Woods 15-0 and North Caddo 10-0 in the Northwood/Southwood tournament.
Lacey Dodson had a huge day, going a combined 6-for-6 with two home runs, a double and seven RBI.
Leah Hopson pitched a four-inning one-hitter against D’Arbonne Woods.
Seven Lady Bucs had hits against North Caddo. Kaytlyn Guerrero went 2-for-3.
Shelby Hensley pitched a five-inning one-hitter and struck out five.
