Three Bossier Parish high school softball teams returned to the field Monday after a week off because of last week’s torrential rain and flooding.
Benton shut out Parkway 2-0 in a non-district pitchers’ duel at Benton. Haughton fell to Byrd 10-0 in a District 1-5A game at Byrd.
At Benton, the Lady Tigers’ Sarah Koeppen pitched a three-hitter as the Lady Tigers improved to 6-4. Per Benton stats, Abi Cole had two hits and Mackenzie McEntee had a double. Makenzie Chaffin had an RBI single in the first inning.
Per Parkway stats, Samantha Guile allowed three hits and struck out 11 in six innings. Hannah Kennady, Kendall Lewis and Rebecca Lynch all had singles. The Lady Panthers dropped to 7-4.
At Haughton, Leah Hopson and Savannah Salley had one hit each in the loss to Byrd. The Lady Bucs visit Airline at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The game has been designated a Flood Relief Game with free admission for first responders. Also, uniform donations will be accepted for those in need.
