The Benton Lady Tigers and Haughton Lady Bucs picked up victories Friday.
Benton dropped Union Parish 12-4 at Benton and Haughton rallied for a 3-2 win over Northwood at Haughton.
The regular season ends this week with Benton (16-10), Haughton (16-10) and Airline (14-10) set to make the playoffs. Parkway (11-14) also has a shot, but the Panthers are on the bubble.
According to the Louisiana prep website kenramsey.com, Haughton has an unofficial No. 13 power ranking in Class 5A and Airline is No. 19.
Parkway is No. 31. Generally, the top 32 make the playoffs with the top 16 getting to play first-round games at home.
Benton, the District 1-4A co-champion, is No. 11 in Class 4A.
At Benton Friday, Savannah Collo had a home run, triple and four RBIs in the win over Union Parish.
Samantha Maranto went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Taylor Thompson also had three hits. Brittany Craig and Abi Cole had two hits each.
Gabby Kespelher doubled and pitched three innings of no-hit ball with eight strikeouts. Sarah Koeppen also struck out eight in four innings.
At Haughton, the Lady Bucs trailed the Lady Falcons 2-0 after five before scoring two in the fifth to tie it.
Kirsten Martin led off the sixth with a double and scored the go-ahead run on an error.
The double was Martin’s third hit of the game in three at-bats. Anna Dies also had three hits.
Haley Krumpelbeck went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Haley Miller was the winning pitcher.
