The Haughton Lady Bucs shut out the Parkway Lady Panthers 4-0 in a key District 1-5A softball game Monday at Parkway.
Haughton pitcher Ashley Smith pitched a six-hitter with five strikeouts. Parkway’s Samantha Guile allowed four hits and struck out nine.
The Lady Bucs (11-5, 5-0) scored three runs in the second inning.
The first came after three consecutive walks and a hit batter.
The second and third came on Ann Dies’ double to left field.
The Lady Bucs added one more in the fourth. Lauren Edwards led off with a walk and advanced to second on Smith’s bunt single.
Edwards went to third on Leah Hopson’s sacrifice bunt and scored on a fielder’s choice.
Lindsey Hutcheson led the Lady Panthers (13-9, 6-1) with two hits.
