The Parkway Lady Panthers and the Airline Lady Vikings picked up wins in a tournament co-hosted by Airline and Southwood Friday and Saturday.
The event was not a bracket tournament with a champion. Teams played games at Airline and Southwood over two days.
Parkway went 2-1 to improve to 7-4 on the season.
The Lady Panthers defeated Oak Hill School 4-2 Friday and St. Mary’s 7-4 Saturday. They also lost to defending Class B state champion Florien 11-2.
Lady Panthers sophomore Haydn Parker homered in all three games to extend her home streak to four games.
Airline also went 2-1. The Lady Vikings lost to Florien 3-1 Friday and defeated Oak Hill 17-7 and Natchitoches Central 2-1 Saturday.
Airline scored two runs in the first inning against Natchitoches Central and Kayla Ranit made sure that was all the Lady Vikings’ would need. She pitched a five-hitter with five strikeouts.
Airline managed three hits with Miranda Young getting a double and an RBI.
Carly McIntosh went 3-for-4 with four RBIs against Oak Hill. Katie Smith had three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs. Madison Rowland also had three hits.
Young and Ashley Salinas homered, and Lindsay Fronzaglio doubled.
Ranit pitched a solid game against Florien, allowing six hits and walking two. But the Lady Vikings managed just four hits off Abbey McMillion.
Cheyanne Hutchins had a triple.
Parker went 3-for-4 in Parkway’s win over St. Mary’s. Brittany Bryant had two doubles and two RBIs. Kelsey Gallman went 2-for-4 with a triple.
Carol Cash scattered eight hits and struck out nine.
Samantha Guile pitched a four-hitter against Oak Hill.
Parker had two hits, including the home run, and two RBIs. Kaitlyn Guerrero went 2-for-3. Mary Kate Bozeman had a double.
Parkway took a 2-0 lead in the first against Florien, but the Lady Blackcats scored one each in the second through sixth to go up 5-2 and then blew the game open with six in the sixth.
McMillion limited the Lady Panthers to just four hits, including Parker’s home run.
Bozeman and Gallman had doubles.
Parkway hosts Airline in a District 1-5A game Tuesday at 6. Haughton hosts Benton in a non-district game.
