Softball: Koeppen pitches no-hitter, gets 3 hits in Benton win

Sarah Koeppen pitched a five-inning no-hitter and had three hits in a 10-0 victory over Lakeside Monday at Benton.

Koeppen struck out three and walked only one. She went 3-for-3, including a three-run homer, and four RBI.

Seven Lady Tigers had hits. Mackenzie McEntee had a two-run homer. Angel Fort went 2-for-2. Hallie Saintignan had a double.

Benton improved to 5-4 with its fourth straight win.

Elsewhere, Haughton fell to Bastrop 5-4 at Bastrop. The Lady Bucs took a 4-2 lead with two runs in the top of the fifth, but the Lady Rams scored three in the bottom of the inning.

Leah Hopson and Courtney Garrett had Haughton’s two hits. Hopson’s was a run-scoring double in the first. Garrett’s single drove in the two runs in the fifth.

Shelby Hensley had a solid outing on the mound, scattering five hits and allowing just two earned runs.
