The Haughton Lady Bucs, Benton Lady Tigers and Parkway Lady Panthers faced some stiff competition in the Sulphur tournament Friday and Saturday.
Here is how each team fared.
Haughton — The Lady Bucs lost to two 2013 Class 5A quarterfinal teams, Dutchtown and Hahnville, 5-1 and 5-2, respectively.
The also fell to 2013 Class 2A state champion John Curtis 6-0.
Lacey Dodson had a home run — one of her team’s six hits — against Dutchtown.
Anna Dies allowed just six hits in five innings.
Dodson had a home run, double and two RBIs against Hahnville. Dies went 4-for-4 with a double. She also scattered six hits.
Dodson and Kirsten Martin had Haughton’s lone hits against John Curtis.
Curtis star pitcher Katie Brignac struck out 14.
Parkway — The Lady Panthers (10-11) defeated Westlake 14-11 and lost to DeQuincy 11-3 and Sulphur 13-4.
Miranda Scotten went 4-for-4 with a triple and two doubles against Westlake. Haydn Parker had two hits, including a double.
Rebecca Lynch also had two hits.
Parker slammed a two-run homer against DeQuincy, but the Lady Panthers managed just three other hits.
Carol Cash went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs against Sulphur.
Benton — The Lady Tigers (9-10) lost to defending Class 5A state champion Sam Houston 10-0, 2013 5A semifinalist St. Amant 15-0 and Denham Springs 16-7.
Brittany Craig had Benton’s lone hit against Sam Houston.
Craig went 2-for-4 against Denham Springs. Abi Cole, Chelsea Rangel and Taylor Thompson had doubles.
Samantha Maranto had two of the Lady Tigers’ three hits against St. Amant.
Airline hosts Parkway in a District 1-5A game this afternoon while Haughton visits Caddo Magnet.
