Softball: Parish teams fare well in tourneys

Airline, Haughton and Parkway all claimed multiple victories in tournaments over the weekend.

Here is how each team fared.

Airline — The Lady Vikings went 3-0 in the Ouachita tournament to extend their winning streak to six.

Airline (9-5) defeated Alexandria Senior High 6-1 and Menard 9-3 Saturday and Caldwell 9-5 Friday.

The Lady Vikings scored seven in the sixth to rally from a 5-2 deficit against Caldwell.

Lindsey Franzaglio went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Miranda Young homered and Katie Smith had a double.

Kayla Ranit pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Jamie Roberts, Melissa Gillenwater and Ranit combined on a two-hitter against ASH. Roberts pitched four innings for the win.

Carly McIntosh went 2-for-3. Ashley Salinas had two RBIs. Mary Macaulay doubled.

Airline scored four in the sixth and four more in the seventh against Menard.

McIntosh went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Smith doubled twice. Cheyanne Hutchins went 3-for-4 with a double.

Gillenwater pitched six innings for the win.

Haughton — The Lady Bucs went 2-0 in the Ouachita tournament.

Haughton (8-3) rallied past West Monroe 7-4 Friday and knocked off defending Class B state champion Florien 6-1 Saturday.

The Lady Bucs trailed Ouachita 3-2 after one Saturday when the game was called because of rain.

Haughton scored five in the bottom of the sixth to rally from a 4-2 deficit against West Monroe.

Anna Dies had a bases-loaded three-run double in the inning. Jessica Blank went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Lacey Dodson, Savannah O’Neal and Kirsten Martin had two hits each.

O’Neal went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs against Florien. Brooke Payton had a double, and Haley Krumpelbeck drove in two runs.

Dies allowed four hits in five innings and struck out five to get the win. She also had a triple in the one inning against Ouachita.

Parkway — The Lady Panthers (10-7) went 2-1 in a tournament in Central Louisiana.

Parkway defeated Pine Prairie 7-1 Friday and Crowley 10-1 Saturday and lost to Natchitoches Central 8-5 Saturday.

Samantha Guile pitched a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts against Pine Prairie. Miranda Scotten went 2-for-3. Mary Kate Bozeman had a double and two RBIs. Brittany Bryant tripled.

Scotten had two hits against Natchitoches Central. Carol Cash had a double and two RBIs.

Bryant went 3-for-4 with a home run, double and two RBIs against Crowley. Haydn Parker also had three hits, including a double.

Cash had two doubles and two RBIs. Bozeman homered and singled. Kelsey Gallman went 2-for-4. Kendall Lewis had a double.
