Softball: Parkway, Haughton, Airline post victories

The Parkway Panthers and Haughton Lady Bucs both remained undefeated in District 1-5A with victories Thursday.

Haughton swept Caddo Magnet 9-1 and 10-0 in a doubleheader at Magnet. Parkway routed Southwood 16-5 at Parkway.

In a non-district game between parish teams, Airline defeated Benton 10-6 at Benton.

At Parkway, Rebecca Lynch went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBI to lead the Lady Panthers (11-7, 3-0). Kendall Lewis went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Mary Kate Bozman had two hits, including a double, and three RBI.

Brittany Bryant tripled, and Alexis Rayborn had two RBI. Allie Hunt allowed just two hits in four innings on the mound.

At Magnet, Haughton (9-3, 4-0) got outstanding pitching in both halves of the doubleheader.

Ashley Smith pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts in the 9-1 win.

Keeleigh Bennett went 4-for-4 with a triple, two doubles and three RBI. Lauren Edwards also had two doubles. Lacey Dodson, Savannah O’Neal, Savannah Salley and Leah Hopson had two hits apiece.

Anna Dies struck out 10 and allowed just two hits in the five-inning, 10-0 win. She was also a standout at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double.

O’Neal had a double, triple and three RBI. Dodson had two hits and two RBI. Hopson and Smith had two hits each.

At Benton, Mary Macaulay hit two home runs to lead Airline. Kaylee Adams and Kelci Johnson also homered.

Macaulay went 3-for-4. Johnson had two hits and three RBI. Adams had two hits and two RBI.

Airline pitcher Hannah Hutson scattered six hits and struck out eight.

Benton’s Sarah Koeppen went 2-for-3. Abi Cole drove in three runs.
