Softball: Parkway, Haughton, Benton win

The Parkway Lady Panthers, Haughton Lady Bucs and Benton Lady Tigers won softball games Monday.

Parkway defeated Southwood 12-2 in six innings in a District 1-5A game at Southwood. In non-district games, Benton downed Captain Shreve 13-8 at Shreve and Haughton dropped Northwood 11-5 at Haughton.

Parkway improved to 11-6 overall and 7-2 in 1-5A. The Lady Panthers are in second place, one game behind Airline in the loss column.

With injured ace Samantha Guile still out, Allie Hunt stepped up on the mound. She allowed just three hits and no earned runs in 5 2/3 innings.

Madelyn Elliott had a home run, double and five RBI. Brittany Bryant went 2-for-4 with a double. Rebecca Lynch had two hits. Maecy Ingram had a double.

Haughton pounded out 13 hits against Northwood. Sidney Arnold went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Shelby Hensley had a home run, double and two RBI.

Lacey Dodson went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Keeleigh Bennett and Savannah Salley had two hits each. Lauren Edwards had an RBI-double.

Hensley pitched a five-hitter with five strikeouts.

Hallie Saintignan went 4-for-5 and had two RBI in Benton’s victory. Siara Erickson had three hits, including a double, and two RBI.

Abby Kent hit a home run. She also had a single and four RBI. Makenzie Chaffin went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Winning pitcher Sara Koeppen had two hits.

The Lady Tigers improved to 12-10 overall.
