Softball: Parkway, Haughton, Bossier post victories

The Parkway Lady Panthers, Haughton Lady Bucs and Bossier Lady Kats posted victories Monday in high school softball action.

The Lady Panthers gave up a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth and then scored twice in the top of the seventh in an 8-6 District 1-5A victory over host Southwood.

The Lady Bucs cruised to a 12-3 non-district victory over Bastrop at home.

Bossier opened District 1-3A play with a doubleheader sweep of Booker T. Washington, 14-0 and 5-3.

Elsewhere, the Benton Lady Tigers gave the Calvary Lady Cavs, No. 1 in the Class 2A power rankings, all they wanted before falling 5-0 in a non-district game at Calvary.

Airline dropped a 14-4 decision to Captain Shreve in a District 1-5A game at Shreve.

At Southwood, Alexis Rayborn, who was hit by a pitch to start the inning, scored the go-ahead run in the seventh on Lindsey Hutcheson’s fielder’s choice.

Kendall Lewis had a bunt single to advance Kaytlyn Guerrero, who reached base on a walk, to second and Rayborn to third. Brittany Bryant’s sacrifice fly brought Guerrero home to make it 8-6.

Samantha Guile, who relieved Allie Hunt in the sixth inning, got a groundout and strikeout to start the bottom of the seventh. After issuing a walk, she struck out the final batter.

Lewis had two of Parkway’s nine hits. Hannah Kennady and Mary Kate Bozeman had doubles. Hunt allowed just two earned runs in 5 2/3 innings. Guile didn’t allow a hit a struck out three in 1 1/3. The Lady Panthers (6-5, 2-0) hurt themselves with three errors.

At Haughton, Lacey Dodson went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the Lady Bucs’ victory. Natalie Smith went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.

Savannah O’Neal, Savannah Salley and Keeleigh Bennett had two hits and two RBI apiece. One of Bennett’s hits was a double. Winning pitcher Ashley Smith also had two hits, including a double.

Ashley Smith scattered seven hits and struck out eight as Haughton improved to 5-2.

At Calvary, Mackenzie McEntee went 3-for-3 with a double for the Lady Tigers (5-4). Sarah Koeppen allowed only one run and eight hits through six innings. The Lady Cavs scored four runs on four hits in the seventh.

At Shreve, Kaitlyn Walker had two doubles for the Lady Vikings (2-5, 0-1), according to Captain Sheve scoring on GameChanger. Kaylee Adams and Brittany Nelson also had two hits. Olivia Broussard had a double.

April Sainz was the winning pitcher for Bossier in both halves of the doubleheader against Booker T. Washington. Krystian Parker had a triple in the first game.
