Thursday was a tough day for Bossier Parish high school softball teams.

With the season hitting its home stretch, Airline, Parkway, Haughton and Benton all lost.

In District 1-5A, Airline no longer has sole possession of first place after a 14-1 home loss to Evangel Christian.

Airline (14-5, 6-2), Evangel (14-8, 7-2) and Parkway (12-7, 8-2) are tied for first in the loss column with Parkway technically in the lead. The Lady Panthers fell to North Webster 7-1 in a non-district game in Springhill Thursday.

Byrd (10-11, 6-3), which defeated Haughton 4-0 at Haughton, is also still in the hunt for the title.

In 1-4A, Benton fell to defending state champion North DeSoto 9-3 in Stonewall. The Lady Griffins (14-5, 5-0) clinched the district title. Benton (13-11, 3-2) will finish second.

At Airline, Kaitlyn Walker had two of Airline’s three hits.

At Springhill, Kendall Lewis went 3-for-4 to lead Parkway. Makayla Strother had two hits.

Parkway had three more hits than North Webster. Allie Hunt allowed only five hits in six innings. The Lady Panthers hurt themselves with four errors.

At North DeSoto, Sarah Koeppen had two of Benton’s three hits against Lady Griffins ace E.C. Delafield. She had three RBI. Hallie Saintignan had the other hit.

At Haughton, Shelby Hensley allowed only five hits against Byrd, but she was the only Lady Buc to get a hit off Lady Jackets ace Callie Crandall.
