Saturday was a tough day for Bossier Parish teams in the Ouachita Parish tournament in Northeast Louisiana.

The Benton Lady Tigers, Parkway Lady Panthers and Airline Lady Vikings went a combined 0-5.

Benton fell to Tioga 5-3 in eight innings and Pineville 6-5. Parkway lost to Natchitoches Central 6-4 and Tioga 10-0. Airline lost to Ouachita Parish 12-4.

Benton led Tioga 3-0 through six innings, but the Lady Indians scored three in the top of the seventh to send it into extra innings. Tioga then scored two in the eighth.

Abi Cole went 2-for-3 with a double to lead Benton at the plate. Abby Kent had a solo home run. Mackenzie McEntee and Siara Erickson had one double each.

Benton also had the lead late in the game against Pineville. The Lady Rebels went ahead 6-5 on a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth. Makenzie Chaffin had two of the Lady Tigers’ six hits. Kent, McEntee and Erickson had one RBI apiece.

Benton (16-13) is scheduled to close the regular season at home against Haughton Tuesday. At No. 19 in the latest Class 4A power rankings, the Lady Tigers will be going to the playoffs.

Parkway also let a lead slip away against Natchitoches Central. The Lady Panthers got off to a great start, scoring four runs in the first for a 4-1 lead. But the Lady Chiefs scored two in the top of second to get within one and took the lead with two in the fifth.

Allie Hunt pitched a solid game, allowing four hits, but Parkway had trouble getting any offense going. Kendall Lewis had two of the Lady Panthers’ three hits. Maecy Ingram had the other.

Parkway (12-11) had a similar problem against Tioga, getting just four hits. Brittany Bryant had two of them. Lewis and Hannah Kennady had the other two.

The Lady Panthers had one bad inning. Tioga scored eight in the second. Parkway only had two errors in the game, but both came in the second. The Lady Indians had two singles, a double and a sacrifice bunt in the inning.

Parkway is scheduled to close the regular season Monday with a District 1-5A game against Byrd, weather permitting. The Lady Panthers are tied for second with Airline. Evangel clinched the title Thursday.

Parkway was No. 23 in the 5A power rankings released Wednesday by the LHSAA but could drop a few spots with the losses. The top 32 teams generally make the playoffs.

Official playoff pairings will be announced Thursday. First-round games must be played by Tuesday, April 19.
