SporTran Bus Involved in Accident with Train

On Saturday afternoon, May 18, 2024, a SporTran fixed-
route bus was involved in a collision with a United Pacific train at Mansfield Road and W. 70th Street.
The train made impact with the rear of the bus and bumper. One passenger
was taken to an area hospital and has been evaluated and released. All
riders and the bus operator were safely disembarked and the roadway is
open to traffic.

A full-scale investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the
accident. “We are working closely with the City of Shreveport and other
agencies to find out exactly how this collision occurred,” states SporTran
CEO Dinero’ Washington. “We’re still in the early stages but incredibly
grateful that it appears no one was seriously hurt. We’ve already engaged our vehicle accident protocol and procedures, including reviewing the on- board video and gathering statements.”

SporTran will be unable to provide further comment while the investigation
is ongoing.
