(Shreveport, LA) – SporTran transit system will be closed Sunday, May 17, 2020, for deep cleaning and preparation for an expected rise in ridership next week. Beginning Monday, May 18, SporTran will increase their current Enhanced Alternative Schedule to include additional services in accordance with Phase 1 of Governor John Bel Edwards’ plan to reopen the State of Louisiana.

As part of their ongoing mitigation efforts against the spread of COVID-19, the entire SporTran fleet and all facilities will be thoroughly disinfected Sunday using cleaning supplies and methods in accordance with CDC guidelines. SporTran also closed for deep cleaning Sunday, April 12, 2020. That closure and the closure this Sunday are added measures; SporTran buses and facilities are sanitized multiple times each day and deep cleaned every night.

SporTran will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed. The organization is exploring the return to full service by mid-June. General information, our response to Coronavirus (COVID-19), and current routes and timetables may be found at: sportran.org.
