St. Charles Court beautification award goes to the Cokers

Submitted by Harley Harville, Special to the Press-Tribune

St. Charles Court residents, Gary and Melissa Coker, love the art of transforming a simple flower bed and porch into a delicate, restful veranda of vintage rockers, tables full of ferns, shades of pink and lavender flowers (inpatients, verbena, petunias angelonia, lantana, snap dragons), lushly filled vases, pots, and flower beds. Familiar pink crepe myrtles are surrounded by architectural pieces from days gone by as you approach the entrance to their home.

The Coker family’s other love is to collect and sell antiques, so it is no surprise to see vintage wheelbarrows and wagons filled with herbs, flowers, or flowing greens.

On any given afternoon, if you find yourself taking a walk down Magazine Court, be sure to wave to another of St. Charles Court’s Beautification Award winners.  Gary and Melissa may be found enjoying a glass of ice tea, listening to the waterfall they installed, and rocking their new grandchild.
